Good luck in qualifying for this years Evesham Angling Festival.
As per previous years, this will take place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend (29th, 30th 31st August), with the Wychavon Championship taking place on the 29th, the Evesham Championship taking place on the 30th, and the Evesham Team Championship taking place on the 31st.
Based on our projected qualifier turnout, we will pay out over £20,000 in prize money over the course of the three day festival.
To qualify for each final, anglers will have to win their zone in a qualifier, which subject to entries will be between 20 and 25 anglers. Some qualifiers will be relevant to the Evesham Championship Final, some to the Wychavon, and on some ‘Own Choice' qualifiers anglers will be able to choose which final they want to fish. This is clearly indicated in the name of each qualifier, here on the Score Fishing booking page.
In the event that an angler wins a zone who has already qualified for the final, or if a qualifying angler cannot make the final, the place is defaulted to the second placed angler. Full details of the final will be posted out to each qualifying angler following each qualifier.
This year, a few changes have been made to usual protocol in light of the Covid 19 outbreak. Firstly, as the final is likely to be a match rather than a spectator event, no anglers will be invited to the final weekend, with the exception of last years Champions.
Due to restrictions on European travel, bloodworm and joker will also be banned for all qualifiers, and for the final weekend.
All qualifier tickets must now be booked online, here on the Score Fishing page, with the exception of the Evesham Team Championship qualifier on Sunday, 19th July. For this match, interested team captains should email diana@raphael.wyenet.co.uk. For the team qualifier, an invite to both the Evesham Championship and Wychavon Championship will be given to the individual winner.
If anglers purchase a ticket, then are unable to make that qualifier, they may sell the ticket on to another angler themselves, but no refunds will be available.
Any angler wishing to fish a qualifier should book in at least 24 hours in advance of the qualifying match taking place.
After purchasing your ticket, you will receive an email notification from Score Fishing. You do not need to bring any paperwork with you on the day of the qualifier. On the Friday before a weekend qualifier, or the Tuesday before a Wednesday qualifier, a list of competitors will be published on the Evesham Angling Festival Facebook page.
On the morning of the match, a rolling draw will take place for competitors from 9am, and will be completed by 10am, with all pegs visible on the draw board, and the draw posted on the Evesham Festival Facebook page. The infrastructure of our match organisation is set up to keep human contact to a minimum. We must ask that social distancing is observed at all times, anglers do not share tackle while on the bank and any angler who has or is displaying symptoms of Covid 19 does not attend the qualifier.
Fishing will be from 12 noon until 5pm for a weekend qualifier, and 12.30pm until 5.30pm on a midweek qualifier.
All monies will be paid out by bank transfer, until Covid 19 measures are eased, and results will be published on the Evesham Angling Festival, Hampton Ferry website and Catch More Media Facebook pages.
On the morning of each qualifier, pre-ordered bait will be available for collection from The Bait Box ( 01386 442955), and takeaway refreshments will be available before and after each match from Raphaels restaurant.
The very best of luck for your qualifier, and we hope to see you in the final.
