ERNE PIKE CLASSIC - RULES

Details & rules for bank fishing competition

The draw for pegs and briefing will take place at 8.00am in the car park opposite “Fishing Tackle & Bait”, Sligo Road, Enniskillen
Competition will be from 10.30am - 4.30pm.
Competition will start and finish on the sounding of a whistle from a section steward.
Maximum of two rods per angler.
Anglers dead baiting without using a float as a form of bite indication must use either an electric bite alarm or swinger - drop indicator (to avoid deep hooking of any fish).
The water surface cannot be broken before the competition starts.
​Each angler will be inspected at their peg to ensure they have the following equipment: unhooking mat, forceps, wire cutters, knotless landing net (minimum 24” dia).
Lure and dead-bait fishing are the only methods permitted.
Baits must be cast, no bait boats etc. to be used.
Rods must not be left unattended; section stewards may reel in unattended rods; fish caught will not be weighed.
Do not encroach within 9 meters of another angler; the 9 meters will be from the middle of the swim.
If an angler is using two rods, they must not be more than 3 meters apart.
Anglers must play their own fish.
All fish must be landed using a landing net.
Fish must be properly handled on an unhooking mat; no mutilated, dead, or lethargic fish will be weighed.
All fish must be immediately weighed and certified by official section stewards only.
Once recorded all fish must be returned unharmed to the water immediately.
Fish hooked after the finish will not be weighed, fish hooked just before or on the final whistle have up to ten minutes to be landed.
No excessive noise, no litter to be left, no waste bait to be dispersed into the lough.
Appropriate fishing licenses and permits are required.
Please respect the privacy and property of neighbouring landowners and give due courtesy to the public and other water users.
Breach of any of the above rules will result in immediate disqualification from the competition.
Each angler may only win one heaviest fish prize.
Ground baiting is permitted.
The referee’s decision is final.

Note to all boat anglers
All fish to be retained in a suitable containment vessel, which will not harm fish in anyway whatsoever.
After each fish is weighed and returned, water must be replaced and replenished.
Suitable containment vessels will be available for hire (with deposit), on a first come basis. 
We encourage anglers to use Suitable slings and to call the Mobile stewards where possible to come to you to weigh the fish to minimize stress on the fish.  

Details & rules for boat fishing competition
Anglers that wish to be included in the overall two-day event must have entered for both days on their initial entry.
A draw and briefing will take place both days at 8.00am in the car park opposite Fishing Tackle and Bait, Sligo Road, Enniskillen.
All anglers must draw for their starting/launch point.
Anyone with boats in the water must also draw to be allocated a starting point.
The competition will be from 10.30am - 4.30pm.
All boats will be inspected by an official steward to ensure all essential equipment is on board (suitable containment vessel, lifejacket, unhooking mat, forceps, wire cutters, knotless landing net (minimum size 24” dia.)
No boats must leave launch/start area prior to the starting signal.
Competition will start and finish on the sounding of a whistle from a steward.
Each boat must be registered with a competition number that must be displayed on the bow of the boat.
Maximum of two anglers, fishing two rods each, per boat.
Lifejackets must be always worn.
All lure fishing and dead baiting are the only methods permitted.
Fish finders/depth finders are permitted.
Boats may be anchored in open water if they do not pose a hazard to other water users.
Water must be changed after weighing in fish at a weigh station.
Boats not to be anchored within forty meters of another boat without the permission of the previously anchored boats occupants.
Anglers must play their own fish.
All fish must be landed using a knotless large landing net. (Minimum 24” dia.)
Fish must be properly handled on an unhooking mat; no mutilated, dead, or lethargic fish will be weighed.
At the earliest opportunity all fish must be weighed and certified by an official steward only.
Once recorded all fish must be returned unharmed to the water immediately.
Competitors are not permitted to disembark from their boat at any point other than a recognized launch point/weigh station.
All boats must return to a weigh station for 4.30pm.
Fish produced after 4.30pm for weighing will not be accepted.
Any changes to weight cards must be initialled by a steward.
Upon signing weight card, the angler is certifying the weights are correct and he/she has abided by the rules.
No excessive noise, no litter to be left, no waste bait to be dispersed into the lough.
Appropriate fishing licenses and permits are required.
Please respect the privacy and property of neighbouring landowners and give due courtesy to the public and other water users.
Breach of any other of the above rules will result in immediate disqualification from the competition.
The referee’s decision is final.
The suitable containment vessel must be a minimum of 1/2 full of water to transport fish for weighing.
